Roger Ebert and every other film critic can go somewhere. They can consider this film, sick, twisted, perverted, wrong, morally deprived and everything else. It is. It's not a exploitation film as the original director explained.
It can be considered torture porn. The original was essentially the 2nd torture porn film ever made. This outing is more graphic by far than the original, the shower scene with the leader Johnny in the original is still generally more graphic than anything in this, but all the deaths combined are more graphic than that film is in general.
It's an excellent film, my one gripe is that the torture is so dragged out that it's just really boring. This is still a very good horror film, and it is actually horror. And it definitely outdoes the original.
Fuck what you heard. Watch this movie if you're a horror buff, the shock and offensive are through the roof. To be completely honest, this is more violent and graphic than the first two Hostel's.
