Review of I Served the King of England (2007) by Andreas C — 23 Sep 2008
Part of the interesting backstory of this picture was that the director fell of the cinematic landscape for 30 years, or something like that, and came back with this movie without missing a beat. First off, this is a very nicely filmed movie.
The imagery is great. Also, the comic acting of the young protaganist is quite hilarious. He has plenty of physical comedy. The plot has its elements of silliness, but also has heavy points, such as Nazi invasion of the Czech region and a man's emergence from prison after a long period.
The movie has elements of delight, just the same, with the liveliness of the acting and the quick pace of the picture. And, certainly there is a dry humor that I appreciated. Recommended!
