Pretty spectacular film. Dark but very funny. Some voice over narration but very little dialogue; self-consciously recalls silent films--one of the early sequences is filmed in that manner. Lead actor is a little guy with Chaplinesque grace.
Every scene is a carefully composed comic tableau. The only weakness is the plot with the character in old age recalling the youth that is the bulk of the story. Lots of sex and nudity--not for the kiddies!
