Review of I Sell the Dead (2008) by Kevin R — 24 Apr 2011
There's a foot in there.
Two "gentlemen" that prosper nicely from the grave robbery business find their profession thwarted when new government mandate is passed. They begin having to sneak from grave to grave to obtain their booty when mysteriously the dead no long remain dead after being buried. Why the new problem in their line of work? Vampires. Can the two gentlemen overcome this minor inconvenience to make an honest living?
"His dad crushed the life out of it.".
Glen McQuaid (Dublin, Ireland), director of The Resurrection Apprentice, delivers I Sell the Dead in his motion picture debut. The storyline for this picture is fascinating and quiet unique. The pace of the film is perfect with its 90 minute run time and the settings and cinematography is perfect for the content. The cast delivers solid performances and includes Ron Pearlman, Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings trilogy), Larry Fessenden (Wendingo), and Angus Scrimm (Phantasm).
"You're going to need a stronger stomach if you're going to get into this line of work.".
I Sell the Dead initially grabbed my attention due to its title and the fact it aired on the Independent Film Channel (IFC). The film thrives on its dark humor, great cinematography, and unique plot. The film reminded me of the great picture Delicatessen. This will always be one of those underrated gems that people talk about and the audience always forgets the film's name. I strongly recommend seeing this picture.
"Look at the beautiful corpse she left behind.".
Grade: B.
