Review of I Saw the Light (2016) by Vera H — 16 Oct 2015
While some of the supporting performances are lacking (most notably Elizabeth Olsen), Tom Hiddleston gives a stellar performance as Hank Williams. Williams led a troubled life marked by physical pain (he was born with spina bifida) and resulting alcoholism and substance abuse.
Hiddleston portrays him as very flawed, sad, and sympathetic with a talent drawn from his life's tragedies. The film covers Williams' well-loved hits. For fans of traditional country music this film is well worth a viewing.
