Review of I Saw the Light (2016) by Randall C — 24 Jul 2016
I Saw the Light is a boring and disappointing biopic about the life of Hank Williams. It's only saving grace is its performances. Tom Hiddleston shines as Hank Williams. He is great in his role. Elizabeth Olsen is also very good as Williams' first wife.
They work well together. I also liked the music in the film. But that's about it. The movie is painfully boring. Its two hour running time feels like it's three. Also, the film doesn't delve deep into Williams' life.
It doesn't delve into his psyche. It just shows his life. I also wasn't particularly fond of the direction of the film. It was just boring. It didn't bring any excitement or interest to the film.
Overall, this was a massive disappointment. The film just didn't live up to its performances. I really wished I liked this film.
