Review of I Saw the Devil (2010) by Tristan D — 20 Jul 2011
I Saw the Devil combines the macabre sword dance of Chan Wook Park's Lady Vengeance and the emotional twister of Fritz Lang's M. Perfecctly paced, Ji-woon Kim's revenge thriller kept my ass on the edge of my seat, my hands fanned out in front of my eyes, and me wondering where the movie would sway my feelings next. We see the heart of the depravity of a lust killer, who feels nothing. No pain. No fear. No guilt. Nothing but pleasure and self preservation. A closed mouth antihero (the husband of one of the serial killer's many victims) will leave the audience questioning the lines between retribution and spiteful revenge.
Oh yea, and there's some bad ass action sequences as well.
