Review of I Saw the Devil (2010) by Ryan M — 19 Sep 2011
I Saw the Devil is a revenge picture that deftly blends genres in the way only Korean cinema can: horror, thriller, action, drama, dark comedy; Ji-woon Kim combines them all with a such a steady, skillful hand that the lengthy running time melts away as audiences are pulled from one shocking situation to the next, all the while admiring how well everything is choreographed.
The line between good and bad is blurred and eventually smashed as Byung-hun Lee's protagonist, a special agent, faces off with the psychopath (Min-sik Choi) who brutally tortured and murdered his wife.
