Review of I Saw the Devil (2010) by Rachel T — 13 Oct 2011
Another brutal Korean revenge movie. Choi Min Sik is still crazy and great, but story seems less appealing than the classic Korean Park Chan Wook's must-watch "THE VENGEANCE TRILOGY (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance/Old boy/Lady Vengeance). The psychopath serial killer tortured and murdered the fiance of the highly-trained government secret agent, and turns the movie into a cat & mouse plot. Straight forward revenge story with high degree of brutal until the end - probably the most evil part - More than an eye for an eye revenge.
Interestingly, some similarities found versus Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, including Lee Byung Hyun revenges for losing his love one and similar plot - hurting Achilles tendons of Choi Min Sik vs the scene in Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance.
