Review of I Saw the Devil (2010) by Mark R — 13 Nov 2011
I Saw the Devil is about angels. Really? Well, there's plenty of religious imagery at work, but it's really not that deep. A very glossy and sometimes over the top serial killer story that pits good against evil.
The midpoint reversal is fiercely fresh and ultimately leads the two main characters to become as wicked and immoral as each other. That's a theme in itself, but the film seems less interested in these social morals, prefering instead to simply have fun with the genre, and it becomes a better film because of that.
