Review of I Saw the Devil (2010) by Sean C — 16 Nov 2011
Simply Wow.
This film was sooooooo kool. About 6 months ago I was at the movie stop and there was a trailer playing for this movie and I was thinking it was kool. The one thing is the trailer was only shown once. I got lucky. So aboot 2 weeks later I saw it on the new releases section. I debated getting and just didn't. Months later I watched The Good The Bad The Weird and then after liking I had thought about the director and was thinking how his other films are. The next day I got a text from AW and it said that The director from the The Good.... had also made I saw the devil. I was shocked and was joyed at the thought.
I looked it up and as you would know the info was correct. I was looked at his other films and I came across A tale of two sisters and 3 extremes 2. So the next day I went to the movie stop and got I was the devil and a tale of two sisters, 3 extremes 2 is out of print and that is a different story but all you need to know is that I have it now and liked it. ( as a revistit I have seen the other two films above and have written a rewview for both of them).
Now on to the movie, it is a story of revenge, a woman is brutally murdered (and when I say brutal I mean it, even seeing the clean up). The main actor mental tormented because that was the woman he was going to marry, the love of his life is now dead and he is set out getting revenge. There are 4 people who are thought to had done it. Oh yea did I mention that the main character is bad by The Bad. Holy crap is he hard core.
The entire movie is filled with mentally saddening images. That make you want to kill the murder sooooo badly. When watching the women begging for their lives it could be the most saddening thing you can see.
Now on to the violence, it is really innovative and creepy. It is cringe worth at some of the torturing in this movie.
The angles of the fights and what not are amazing. There is no question on what is going on. It is clear cut and you can continue to tremble. The sets are interesting. The uses of colors are well placed and can be beautiful and Eire at the same time.
I would love to say some of the scenes in this film but I do not want to spoil anything. So I will come out and say this instead, there are scenes that I laughed because you knew when someone is going to be F'ed and of course the bad guys not the innocent. I was like you can make it worse to these people and it happens to say the least.
Final verdict: It feels perfect and really do not have any complaints with the film. So do to the fact that the movie did not do anything wrong and is exciting to watch from start to finish, also having a great end shot, I think.
96% out of 100% this is not for anyone with a weak stomach, but if you have a strong mental being I highly suggest this to you. This is not a new review it was done about a month ago but I just came back to change it to a 100% because when I had watched I was like ..... "still holds up as well as the first time I saw if anything it is better because I picked up on more thing that may of went over my head... Also when I wrote my artical for the local publication I had list my top 11 favorite films list and coming in a #10 I saw The Devil :D.
