Review of I Saw the Devil (2010) by Randy T — 14 Mar 2012
I Saw The Devil is a genre masterpiece. Nothing in cinematic history is there something comparable to this ultra-violent, visceral serial killer/revenge hybrid. The film follows a renegade secret agent Soo-hyun whose wife has been murdered.
He then seeks out suspected criminals to find his wife's killer (Choi Min-sik). What ensues is a brutal game of cat-and-mouse. The film has phenomenal acting and direction, incredible mis-en-scene and intense, brutal, bloody set pieces.
From start to finish the film devastates.
