Review of I Saw the Devil (2010) by Matt G — 10 Apr 2012
This movie needed to chill out, because it took itself way too seriously. There came a point where it even seemed to mock it's no reason "over the topness" by saying "Revenge is for the movies.
" It starts out making you think it's gonna be a basic revenge flick. And while it is, the revenge element is repetitive to the point where you're thinking "ok, ok, I get it. calm down.
" and then once you've been thinking that, it introduces a completely bizarre subplot that I won't spoil, but I will say is completely unnecessary. I also should mention that there is no originality in this movie except for maybe the repeating revenge element as I already mentioned.
Zodiac, Irreversible, Lady Vengeance, and several other films came to mind while watching this. The only good thing I can think of about this movie is the acting and cinematography.
