Review of I Saw the Devil (2010) by David K — 11 Feb 2015
The reason this movie will forever stand as one of the greatest thrillers of all time is because although we have a protagonist and an antagonist, we don't have a hero and a villain.
If viewed from an outside perspective, the actions taken by the protagonist to "beat" the antagonist make him almost directly responsible for all the torture and death in the film. No movie- ever- has so effectively shown what revenge can do to a person.
All this, coupled with incredible filmmaking, outstanding acting, and an antagonist who's legacy deserves to be counted among film's highest and most memorable villains, makes I Saw The Devil a movie for the ages. I can't say you'll have a good time watching the film, but that's a compliment of the highest order.
