Review of I, Robot (2004) by Kurt M — 19 Dec 2012
Inspired by the science fiction stories of Isaac Asimov, this action-adventure film has good writing and direction flawed by too much dependence on fighting and chase sequences. As with many of his previous roles, Will Smith spends too much time chewing the scenery and overacting while his character is more fantasy than science fiction, performing stunts more suited to a superhero than a character from what is supposed to be a hard science fiction film.
An entertaining film which captures the spirit of Asimov's fiction, but ultimately proves disappointing.
