Amazingly, Jim Carrey's manic side only comes out in short (fairly appropriate) bursts, with some surprisingly sweet moments amid the humorous ones. He plays a con man who goes to absurd lengths to stay close to the man with whom he falls in love while they were in prison.
Comedy? Tragedy? Love story? It defies genre labels. That it's based on a true story makes it... oddly and fascinatingly bizarre.
