Review of I Love You Phillip Morris (2010) by Cylus O — 03 Mar 2012
An uneven film that possesses another solid performance from Ewan Mcgregor and a somewhat equally different yet predictable performance from Jim Carrey as a con man who takes in Ewan as his lover and goes to extraordinary lengths to make his extravagant lifestyle work outside of prison.
The chemistry and commitment from the leads are what makes the film work, although some of the pacing and jokes fall flat at times causing the film to drag. Its great to see Carrey still do more against type roles although his perchant for mugging is still there to an extent.
A mixed bag of a film.
