Review of I Love You Phillip Morris (2010) by J. B — 06 Jun 2014
Its does not contain the depth of "Milk" or the laughs of other Jim Carrey films. However, I Love You Phillip Morris has enough jokes, drama and fun to at least keep you entertained for an hour and a half.
The screenplay has the feel of a movie (chases, montages etc.) and the direction suits the movie's tone. The performances are some of the best in modern comedy. Although Jim Carrey keeps his mannerisms, he actually puts quite a lot of effort and most of the time succeeds.
Jim Carrey was perfectly cast as the lovable troublemaker. I have talked long enough about him, but that doesn't mean Ewan McGregor or any of the supporting cast was not as good. The theme song is heart warming, beautiful and above all memorable.
It exactly reflects how I feel about this movie.
