Review of I Love You, Man (2009) by Bobbyc — 26 Mar 2009
I Love You, Man is yet another film that falls under the category of "R-Rated comedy with a heart" that has become so popular over the last few years. Taking a break from playing the sour-but-likable type (like he mastered last year in Role Models), Paul Rudd manages to play the awkward nice guy, and shows that he knows more than one way to get his laughs.
Jason Segel proves that he doesn't have to write the movie himself (like he did in Forgetting Sarah Marshall) in order to carry a two-hour comedy on the big screen. Segel's Syndey Fyfe is funny, quirky and honest, sort of a modern day, more realistic Cosmo Kramer.
Andy Samberg works well in a supporting role, as do J.K. Simmons, Jon Favreau and Lou Ferrigno (yes really). Not the best of the R-Rated comedies of the last few years, but certainly in the conversation.
