Review of I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) by Amanda L — 09 Aug 2012
The first of the "Post-Scream" slasher films, and by far the most effective, I Know What You Did Last Summer is a surprisingly well-made, sharply written, and chilling horror film, inno small part due to Hewitt's wonderful performance, and Kevin Williamson's script.
While not up to par with Scream, Last Summer is a great film on it's on terms, wonderful production values, an all around terrific cast, and a unique spend on a popular urban legend. Many critics have slammed this film, with most of the criticism coming form the fact that the film pales in comparison to Scream.
Besides its sequel, I don't know of any slasher film can top Scream. What I do know is that of all the slashers that spawned from the success of Scream, this one is by far the best.
