Coming from Kevin Williamson, the writer of "Scream," you'd expect "I Know What You Did Last Summer" to be a bit more clever. In that department, it partially fails. Also, it is only loosely based on the book by Lois Duncan.
It veers a bit into standard slasher territory, but the film is still pretty entertaining and has a likeable, sympathetic cast of teens lined up for the slaughterhouse.
