Review of I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) by Anthony H — 09 Oct 2010
I Know What You Did Last Summer is a film that delivered on a scale where most slashers don?t; it had a solid cast and strong character development. The characters were actually developed so the audience was in tune with the characters and felt emotion when they met their demise with the killer.
It also had one of the most iconic chase scenes in horror film history. The near 10 minute chase sequence with Sarah Michelle Gellar was by far the films strongest moment. I Know What You Did Last Summer piled on the suspense and tension as the film went on, by the final half hour, this little slasher turned into a taut and terrifying film that delivered on all levels.
I strongly respected how they made this into an above average horror flick, not just all about sex and kills. It had a strong plot, well developed characters, tense chase scenes, a strong climax and an unforgettable final jump scare at the end.
This is a true classic in my opinion, a must see for horror/thriller fans. (A-) Recommended!
