Review of I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell (2009) by Konrad B — 08 Sep 2009
I was one of the lucky few that was invited to see IHTSBIH at the Chicago press/media screening on September 2nd. I had already been following this movie ever since Tucker Max acknowledged it on his website a year or two ago.
After reading the book this movie was based on, I was ecstatic to see it on the big screen! What had me worried was the fact that it was described as a low budget indie comedy with a sub-par cast. Surprisingly after the screening I was completely blown away! IHTSBIH is truly the funniest movie I have seen in a very long time.
I was laughing non-stop from the opening scene until the ending credits began to roll. Much of the humor is crude and raunchy, but what else would you expect from Tucker Max? The characters are all likable and all well developed.
You can see Tucker in Matt Czuchry's performance. He is truly an asshole throughout the movie but he is just soo good at it! The cameo from Tucker Max himself also adds to the quality of this flick.
And what other movie do you know that has a memorable shit scene? If you read the book, or even if you haven't (I would strongly recommend you do, you will not be disappointed), I would definitely not miss IHTSBIH.
I promise you that it is impossible to sit through this movie without laughing.. I enjoyed it so much that I am actually heading out to the premiere in Madison, as well as, probably seeing it when it hits theaters nationwide on September 25th.
