Review of I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell (2009) by Jane M — 12 Feb 2010
This movie was pretty crappy. It depicts a lot of reasons why I am embarassed by my side of the gender occasionally. The movie does not make me want to read any of Max's books nor does it make me think he is a male genius.
HOWEVER, I want to give credit where credit is due. The actors, though working with a bad script, seemed to give it there best. It's very obvious this film is loaded with talented actors that keep getting a raw deal in job choices.
ALSO, the A story sucks. The B story is Cliche. The C story actually speaks to me. I was brutally dumped not too long ago and though I wasn't completely anti-women, I was pretty close to the state of mind of Jesse Bradford's character.
In the movie there is an ongoing conversation between the stripper and Jesse Bradfords character that is kind of uplifting for hopeless romantic men. I don't know, could just be me. But that's where the two stars are earned: The Acting and the C Story.
Everything else is crap.
