Review of I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell (2009) by Greg R — 09 Mar 2010
I have actually read the book that Tucker Max wrote that this movie is based on. The biggest problem (and the problem that doomed this project from the start) is that there was no potential for the book to be made into a good movie.
As funny and as stupid as it is, the book is just a collection of stories of a drunken idiot that have barely any relation to each other. This movie is a mean, misygonistic (I excepted that) film that has witty dialogue but has no style, no substance and no heart.
This movie is very watered down and there are no likable characters here. This horrible movie is a movie for idiots. And I can't believe I watched some of it. I was interested to see how the movie was adapted to the screen.
And just as I predicted, it was a complete and utter failure.
