Guess what? I hated I Hate Valentine's Day. Nia Vardalos brought her leading man (John Corbett) from My Big Fat Greek Wedding back for this because they had "some" chemistry in their first pairing.

This is just like Greek in that I don't get this sense of humor. I don't find Vardalos amusing or witty or smart or funny. I think she is a plain Jane -- and this sounds bad because she isn't the most overly attractive female actor working today; but I am talking about her personality here and not her looks in regards to that sentence.

She tries tooooo hard and it is most off-putting. Vardalos also had a film last year called My Life in Ruins which I found to be as equally bad. I think Vardalos comes across as quite vain and superior-acting in all of her work.

She talks down to an audience. In Ruins she surrounded herself with buffoons and in Valentine's Day she is surrounded by homely actors so she'll be the best looking person on screen -- at ALL times.

Rachel Dratch is the closest thing to a BFF/sidekick she has in this film -- Rachel Dratch (the very plain, slightly-creepy looking former SNLer Debbie Downer). This shows us how Vardalos wants to come across on screen -- a screen goddess.

This movie is tripe. Vardalos wrote, acted and directed this film so I am assuming she thought she was near-perfect in the entire thing; but she is floundering all about and I don't thinks she realizes it .

.. she is the Hollywood version of Sarah Palin. "Look at me! Look at me! I'm cute and have an important message to deliver." No ... and no. I do hope this puts an end to Vardalos's attempt to re-conquer Hollywood.

I am sure she'll be back, though, with a My Big Fat Greek Baby Shower or something ... she'll come up with something. And also, once again ... I won't find it funny.
