Review of I, Frankenstein (2014) by Leon B — 30 May 2014
Review:
Although the movie doesn't look too bad, the storyline is pretty weak, along with the acting which was pretty poor. It just seemed a bit to over epic with an all English cast, except for Eckhart. I was expecting better from Eckhart, but it's not his fault that the director seemed to concentrate on the CGI more than the storyline, which we have seen many times before. The fighting scenes could have been better, but the gargoyles weren't that bad. Basically, the whole good demons against bad demons thing has been done many times before, which was why I was expecting the director to do something out of the norm with this Frankenstein character. There is a sense of intensity which makes the movie watchable, but I'm still yet to see a good take on the Frankenstein concept. Disappointing!
Round-Up:
I am a fan of Aaron Eckhart, but he has made some bad choices in his career. He was great in The Dark Knight, but Battle Los Angeles and The Expatriate were pretty poor. Bill Nighy is playing his usual weird and mysterious self as the English baddie, once again, but he does play those type of roles well like in the Pirates Of The Caribbean and Harry Potter franchise. The rest of the cast are just your regular English baddies that try there best to make everything sound epic. In all, it's an average movie that could have been much better.
Budget: $65million.
Worldwide Gross: $71million.
I recommend this movie to people who are into there Frankenstein type movies, with loads of gargoyles and goblins. 4/10.
