Review of I, Frankenstein (2014) by Ohsnappage . — 24 Sep 2015
Science Fiction: In the same Gothic vein as the Underworld series. Based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux, who is also an actor in this film and in the Underworld series. Other critics seem to fault this movie for a lack of campy humor, but, for someone like me who doesn't enjoy the camp style often, I appreciated the serious tone.
It is great to see that someone knows their mythology. Gargoyles are not ugly, evil beasts, they are guardians and protectors. The centuries long battle between the good gargoyles and the evil demons sets a great backdrop.
Frankenstein's Creation surviving through the centuries and taking the name Adam because of the Creation story themes is also interesting. To keep it from getting too religious I'm glad there was so much martial arts action with lots of CGI effects.
