Review of I, Frankenstein (2014) by Kevin R — 11 Dec 2014
God is no longer the sole creator of man.
Frankenstein's Monster now travels the world trying to be left alone but occasionally is attacked by demons. One day he is also confronted by gargoyles that take him to their leader and tell him a tale of an ancient war between the gargoyles, which protect the humans, and demons who wish to enslave them. Frankenstein doesn't feel it is worth his time to help and disappears for 200 years. He returns to civilization only to be drawn back into the war.
"God will surely damn you.".
"He already has.".
Stuart Beattie, director of Tomorrow, When the War Began, delivers I, Frankenstein. The storyline for this picture was just okay but the special effects were fairly well done (though too much CGI in parts). I am sure this looked cool in 3D. The action scenes were interesting, but not great and the acting was above average. The cast includes Aaron Eckhart, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto, Bill Nighy, and Jai Courtney.
"Each of us has a higher purpose; yours has yet to reveal itself.".
We grabbed this movie because it peaked our interest when the previews aired. I would say this is comparable to Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Vanhelsing, and Underworld (though a step below Underworld). Overall, this is worth a viewing, as I enjoyed watching Eckhart in this role, but is far from a classic or worth adding to your DVD collection.
"Now I would hunt those that hunted me.
Grade: C+.
