Review of I, Frankenstein (2014) by Hawk _ — 01 Jan 2015
I first heard about this movie via a post on my facebook page of a friend alerting people not to see this movie. This has turned into somewhat of a trend, when talking about the movie people tend to mention it in the context of "Do not see I Frankenstien". However I'm going to buck this trend and say that the movie is actually a fairly well made and certainly a fun movie. Not only that, but I truly believe that this film could become a cult classic five or so year down the line.
The movie follows the titular Frankenstein Monster, here known as Adam, after he's betrayed by his creator and runs away. It is here he is hunted down by demons, it appears a wealthy business mogul is atempting to resurrect corpses to provide them as hosts to slain demons, and the demons need to know how Adam was created in order to perfect their technique. Luckily for humanity theres a group of Gargoyles (read: Angels) who are watching out for mankind's best interest and try to protect Adam from getting into the wrong hands.
The story really isn't important here and, indeed takes a backseat to fight scenes for much of the movie. The movie reminded me of growing up on video games such as Devil May Cry and the like. It provides great action set pieces and looks great doing it.
If you are looking for a heady, cerebral film, I Frankenstein is not it, if however you are looking for a great action movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat well this movie is perfect. There are some minor plotholes, but you will be having such a good time you won't care.
