I'm a sucker for based on true stories movies, & this one is all-in-all very good. It showed not only the beauty of Africa, but it's cruelty. Kim badinger does a wonderful job of playing a woman who faces increadible trumphs & heartbreaking tragedies & handles them strength & dignity.

Basinger's movie choices most of the time are questionable, but this & her role in 8 Mile prove what she's capable of as an actress when she's given strong charecters to play. seeing Vincent Perez nearly naked (His body is a work of art to behold!) was an extra added bonus.
