Amidst the Spiderman3 sound effects blarin from the next cineplex hall, Tsai Ming Liang told us "Tell your friends to come and watch my film". Minimalist in the vein of Kieslowski, indulgent with the Tarkovsky long takes, he doesn't command attention -he invites it.
