Review of I Don't Know How She Does It (2011) by Valerie P — 29 May 2013
The trailers for this film made me want to take time out to watch it, despite my usual misgivings about these sort of sitcom movies.
We are all drawn to things we can relate to, and even though I'm not personally a "career mom", most parents can relate to the humorous hub-bub that surrounds family life.
My husband has an unexplainable hatred of Ms. Parker, so I was most definitely on my own this time, but hey, a little Pierce Brosnan never hurt.
There were moments when I chuckled, I admit it. Overall, however, it continually felt as if I'd seen the script before. It's a bit of a tired, cliched storyline now. Parent has to choose between the work they use to define themselves and the family that desperately needs them. Throw in a "no nonsense" boss, Brosnan, and you've got the film laid out in a nutshell.
I didn't really walk away from this one feeling I had witnessed anything new and exciting, but the lice joke stuck (ithced?) with me for awhile!
An average undertaking by some stars in obvious need of work.
