Review of I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore (2017) by K Nife C — 09 Mar 2017
A Netflix original film written AND directed by Macon Blair and bravo to the cast and crew of this strange, dark film that shows how two people can overcome and accomplish just about anything in a sort of way and find love along the journey.
We have a depressed and lonely nurse's aide named Ruth (M. Lynskey) whose crappy house in a horrible and depressing neighborhood gets burglarized. The police is not offering much help so she takes matters into her own hands by canvassing the neighborhood for clues and information.
She meets and teams up with her martial arts obsessed type A personality neighbor Tony (E. Wood) to get back her laptop and once retrieved, a series of chain reactions take place that not only help Ruth recover the rest of her stolen goods but open her life to other possibilities including love, adventure, and excitement.
The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19, 2017; it went on to win the Grand Jury Prize for the U.S. Dramatic competition. It was released on February 24, 2017, by Netflix.
So what are you waiting for, go ahead and stream it in high definition! Recommended.
