Review of I Could Never Be Your Woman (2007) by Colin B — 04 Dec 2010
I really thought I would love this movie. I was convinced I would. But... I was a little disappointed in the characters, I suppose. I expected them not to fit in so much in the very faux world in which they live, but I'm afraid they did.
I guess the movie is not totally superficial, and it does try to convey some sort of message, but it's either way too obvious, or contradictory. For example, I was really annoyed by the conversation between Michelle Pfeiffer and Saoirse's teacher. I mean, how can you expect your daughter to be clever and critical towards society, if she doesn't even see that school is actually important in her development. And by the way, don't you see that getting the right answer in a math exam proves absolutely nothing without the right approach as you might have copied it on your neighbour? Gee, that's just common sense.
In the end, Saoirse was probably the best thing about this movie. Not necessarily her character, but the actress herself. (I love her accent in the interview ^^ She's so cute).
