Finally a faith-based film that truly works and isn't just made for the community.

I Can Only Imagine remains the #1 Christian song of all time but how did it happen exactly? well, this film traces its origins by singer Will Barton growing up with his abusive father and before joining the band MercyMe.

Will's mother sent him to church camp, left, and he saw his father for the monster he was.

After leaving to pursue a music career Will was told only to copy the music people heard, not sing from within himself.

If he knew God could forgive everyone else why not his father as well?

Dennis Quaid brings a lot playing Will's dad taking so long to look at the damage he's done trying to tell him that reality comes out of nowhere and not all dreams can come true.

Cloris Leachman...she's barely in the film at all.

But J. Michael Finley shines as this artist brought up to believe sometimes you're not good enough but you have to face the pain and the demons or it'll hold you back even further.

You don't even have to be a Christian to appreciate the power of the music this film conveys.

It was hard to hold back the tears but the song that made triple plantinum success holds a universal theme for us all.

Forgiveness is still a powerful thing regardless how we are brought up in this world.

This is a step in the right direction for this genre of filmmaking.
