Review of I Can Do Bad All By Myself (2009) by Ceph J — 18 Jan 2010
I can write a review all by myself. Tarajii Henson is a good actress and is perfect as the woman who needs to "grow up." She's involved with a married man, living in a house that needs maintenance, doesn't go to church often enough, and is not taking care of her dead sister's kids. How do you think this all turns out at the end? Of course, she finds a good man, goes to church, and finds comfort with her niece and nephews.
Tyler Perry's movies are like tv sitcoms: light and forgetable. I'm sure he's laughing all the way to the bank. Do we need his alter ego, Medea, in every movie? In this one, she's actually a distraction. It would have been more interesting to watch the relationship develop between Adam Rodriguez (absolutely charming actor) and Henson. When they exchange "I love you" towards the end, the audience is left to ponder, when did that happen. The other standout is Hope Olaide Wilson as Jennifer. I also enjoyed the singing performances of Mary J. Blige and Gladys Knight.
