Review of I Am Singh (2011) by Robin D — 08 Jan 2012
I saw this film and it was REALLY boring. I myself am a Punjabi but felt that the directing, acting and overall plot were executed rather weakly. The concept of the film is great, but it lacks in being objective. It's understandable for there to be some subjectivity but the portrayel of skin-heads who stand around random plots of land with airplanes in them pumping their fists like hooligans really put me off. Also, Americans do NOT have a British accent, and that is something that Bollywood needs to take into account when they portray the west.
The main actor in the film was very melodramatic and I felt like he didn't know what to do with his hands and all he did was raise his hand sky ward or have a fist with a pointing finger.
Ultimately, I spent most of my time fast forwarding in hopes of a "good part" but never found one. I really hope that director's in India can start directing instead of just story telling because good concepts often don't get their due (ie. this film).
