Review of I Am Number Four (2011) by Bill R — 04 Feb 2012

It seems that, again, it's all about expectations! I didn't expect anything from this movie but I got a watchable sci-fi adventure about nine aliens (last of their kind) with special abilities (from the planet Lorien) staying on our planet ... By the way, they are trying to escape from the evil Mogadorians who are hunting them and are on our planet as well in a form of tattooed skinheads! Few extra creatures to add to excitement... and there is a perfect movie for people who don't want to think, just to relax, eat their pop-corn and drink that sugary water with lots of colouring which cinemas sell as "refreshing"!

Our hero is Daniel (Alex Pettyfer), alien number 4, good looking individual (which should attract female audience )and somehow he can never stay away from centre stage and attracting attention, which doesn't help much his warrior protector Henri (Timothy Olyphant). Acting was just good enough for this type of films - they won't be on any nominated lists with these roles! D.J.Caruso did his directing share mechanically - no big deals - but very professionally following the screenplay written by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar and Marti Noxon. The real hero of this movie, for me, is the director of photography, Guillermo Navarro, who contributed the most for the positive review!
