A very strong central performance from Will Smith. Darkly humorous, deeply sad and thrilling. Worth seeing on DVD or Blu-Ray for the original ending, as it is much more true not only to the book but to the film itself.
Another film that has been ill-served by nervous studio heads worrying about negative test screenings.
