I Am Legend is a good movie. It's a movie that I have seen many times and I enjoy it every time I watch it. But there is just something about it that is holding me back from a 4/5. Maybe it's the particular special effects or some of the questionable plot points and dialogue. But there is just something there. Besides the point it is a well made and interesting film. I would give it a 3.5/5 but my particular scoring method is against that. The story is more than cool and the performance by Smith was phenominal. He really outdid himself in this one, although where can you go wrong with Will Smith, right? It really does show off the insanity and how being alone for such long periods of time will affect you, like in Cast Away. These two movies are similar in that way. Smith is alone for so long with only his dog to keep him company that he begins to set up manicans around the city to use them to talk to and act like they are real people. That's like in Cast Away in how Tom Hanks becomes friends with a volleyball named Wilson.

I do like this movie and I will watch it multiple times and still like it, but I just can't give it a 4/5. The performance from Smith was spectacular, the dog (Sam) was cute as hell (thinking that your only asking for punishment). There are some plot holes and questionable choices they make in this film but overrall the plot is more than interesting. It really is a good movie and I would recommend it to anyone.
