Review of I Am David (2003) by Aaron L — 24 Nov 2008
Ugh. Where do I begin? This movie has so much potential, but it's so improbable that I just didn't really find myself getting into it. Please, tell me- are we really supposed to mistake an English accent for Bulgarian, Italian, or Swiss? The fact that none of the actors had convincing accents was pretty appalling, but then factor in the shear impossibility that a runaway from Bulgaria would be speaking English to all of these people in other countries? blech.
I thought the choice of Ben Tibber was poor. He was so unnatural, and really just did not emote well. I also thought that the story didn't really unfold smoothly. That being said, it is only a PG movie, so if it's only for kids, then all of these abysmal choices can be overlooked.
