Review of I Am (2011) by Lucy H — 15 Nov 2012
I love this film to death. His evidence is probably not the strongest, and I really feel that he had an idea of what he felt was wrong with the world and how to fix it before he even made this film. All of the interviews for this film were environmentally conscious and usually having something to do with psychology. I think the meaning of this film and the emphasis on living simply and happily without greed or selfishness is very important (more important that the evidence he presents). I would have loved to have seen a more opposing perspective other than his father saying he doesn't believe man can change "knowing man". I think his intentions were pure and wonderful I so glad he has found happiness. It's the kind of happiness I can personally attest to. Sure he's not the most effective documentary director but it was his first, I can't say that if I made one right now I would make bank but it'd be a cool thing to experience. I'm also glad he had the chance to experience both worlds (rich and famous to happy and simple). I think the message matters more than the content.
