Review of Hysterical Blindness (2002) by Eoin H — 20 Dec 2008
The Thurman performance is quite bizarre. She is not obviously on drugs here but her behaviour suggests being affected by something more than stress. Her erratic, imbalanced personality is distracting to the story. This is unfortunate as the story is quite elegant in spite of the naff time (80s) and naff (New Jersey) geography.
I also thought the cinematography is brilliant. There is a flair to the camera and lighting very rarely seen from HBO films.
