Review of Hysterical Blindness (2002) by Se7Enth A — 25 Mar 2010
Not a great movie but not bad, either. Uma plays it for all she's worth with the big hair and all but she's still Uma Thurman with a great body. Still, her character is pathetic and you really don't see her improving much.
Juliette Lewis as her best friend, who is shouldering her responsibilities as a single mother and is aware of the diminishing possibilities of life but in a gentler way, is great. Of course, the endlessly beautiful grace of Gena Rowlands as the mother who is resigned to her life as it is is marvellous.
I didn't like what they did with her romance to (real long-term friend) Ben Gazzara.
