Review of Hysteria (2011) by Auli H — 24 Jul 2012
Not widely released, though not necessarily a subject matter that is right for mass marketing, lol. I found the story, based on true events, engaging and rather interesting to watch take shape. Also seeing the cultural differences of the past and what was seen as acceptable and what was not is fascinating when you think about it compared with today and how things have shifted so.
Plus, the acting in the film is just fantastic! Maggie Gyllanhael and High Dancy were wonderful as the leads and played well off of each other! Though in all honesty, Maggie did kind of steal the show.
So, if you were considering giving this movie a try but were uncertain based on the film's subject matter, I say give it a shot anyway, I think you'll find it really is quite good and there is far more substance to it than most would venture to think.
