Review of Hysteria (2011) by Galaxy Quest P — 28 Sep 2012
It started with an interesting premise that would gain a lot of attention in itself but the film generally focuses on the development of the characters and a building love angle, which if it stuck with the invention angle it would have been a documentary.
there are quite a few humorous moments as it is a foreign subject on film and although it contains no actual graphic scenes or language, it received an R rating which greatly puzzles me. The story does a good job at portraying the life and events that come of the invention with Hugh Darcy's character but it was too light spirited to be taken seriously which took away from the comedic enjoyment.
For such a long build up for the ending, it seems rushed for the last love angle when they are only very subtle hints in that direction which make it easy to see coming but only as a movie romance and not a believable one.
The movie brings a few laughs but is not a must-see and wouldn't be so bad to miss a view.
