Review of Hypnotic (2021) by Jluis_001 — 06 Nov 2021
The premise itself isn't really original, but it was engaging.
However, in the absence of better ideas, it's more than obvious that something finer could have been tried that would have succeeded in raising the potential than its premise promised.
Hypnotic from the beginning avoids building suspense in an intelligent way because without saying it explicitly, decides to reveal to you very soon who the bad guy is, and how he's executing his schemes.
So because of that, what the plot leaves as a residue is to know the reasons behind these actions, and also how the lead character will get out of the mess.
However, it turns out the motivations are just extremely disappointing. And the climax and conclusion are basically a mockery.
Know where you're getting yourself into. This was as lousy as it was lazy.
