Review of Hyena Road (2015) by Roland V — 05 May 2017
I watched this movie twice, which I rarely do. It's interesting enough in its depiction of Afghanistan and Afghans but it also provides food for thought with the decisions that have to be made throughout the story.
It's unflinching in its willingness to present most of the decisions as sub-optimal at best, and it does a good job of showing why such poor outcomes happen. It's not a depressing film but it's a sobering, engaging and realistic one.
I felt I didn't need a romantic sub-plot but every movie seems to have one these days, even war movies.
