Review of Hyde Park on Hudson (2012) by Helen J — 05 Jan 2013
Surely no affair could have developed if the real people had as little passion and depth as the character portrayed by the actors in this film. The FDR of news reels and radio had a larger than life presence and voice.
You won't see that FDR here. If he had been as passionless and unfocused as he appears in this film, it is unlikely he could have been elected President even the first time. The Daisy of this film is uninteresting and uninspired and it is hard to imagine what possible attraction could have existed.
This is a little story best left untold. It does nothing to illuminate either the people or history.
